Grand locomotive parade featuring historic vehicles at the DB Museum Koblenz

A special highlight of the anniversary celebration at the DB Museum Koblenz awaits visitors on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2 p.m.:

The grand vehicle and locomotive parade will showcase around 25 historic vehicles from the museum’s collection. The approximately two-hour parade features unique locomotives and cars from various eras of railway history—including vehicles making their debut at the event.

Among the highlights is the 323 852-4, the first locomotive of the DB Museum Koblenz. The shunting locomotive was taken out of service in 1998 and has been part of the museum’s collection since 2001. Also on display is the E69 03 “Hermine,” one of Germany’s oldest operational electric locomotives and a pioneer of electric rail transport. It has been housed at the DB Museum Koblenz since 2008.

The historic electric locomotive E18 003 is also taking part in the anniversary locomotive parade. After nearly 30 years out of service, it was extensively restored by volunteers at the museum site and presented to the public again for the first time last year.

Several guest vehicles will also be traveling to Koblenz for the anniversary celebration.

Free Shuttle Rides & Special Trains

To celebrate the anniversary, we are offering free shuttle rides every hour from Koblenz Central Station directly to the museum grounds. You can find the schedules in the green download section below.

A Trip into the Blue, Rides on the Adler Train, and a Colorful Children’s Program

In addition to the grand locomotive parade, visitors to the anniversary celebration at the DB Museum Koblenz can look forward to a varied program for railway enthusiasts, children, and families. Special highlights include rides in the cab of historic diesel locomotives as well as trips on the legendary Adler train.

The operational replica of the famous “Adler” locomotive brings the early days of railway history to Koblenz. The historic reconstruction was built in 1935 to mark the centennial of the German railway and remains one of the most famous vehicles in German railway history to this day.

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, a special “Journey into the Blue” departs from Museum Platform 54 at 12 noon. The historic electric locomotives E69 05 from the “Bayerischer Localbahn Verein e.V.” and E69 03 from the DB Museum will pull an authentic commuter train consisting of four “Donnerbüchsen” (thunderboxes) from the 1920s and 1930s. The exact destination will remain a secret until departure.

The trip is limited to 124 seats. Tickets are available for 10 EUR per person at the Adler Mitfahrten ticket booth.
