Major Model Railroad and Locomotive Weekend in Koblenz-Lützel
On September 26 and 27, 2026, trains big and small will take center stage at the DB Museum in Koblenz. Historic electric locomotives will be on display during the seventh annual “Einheitsloktage” event. At the same time, the IG Spur 1 Mittelrhein club will showcase its impressive 1:32-scale modular layout.
Unified Locomotive Days with Vehicle Presentations
The nonprofit association Baureihe E10 e. V. is hosting the Unified Locomotive Days at the DB Museum Koblenz for the seventh time.
Standard-series electric locomotives from the E10, E40, and E50 classes will be on display on and around the turntable. The locomotives will be shunted onto the turntable one at a time in a way that’s ideal for photography, offering numerous attractive photo opportunities.
In addition to locomotives from the association and the DB Museum Koblenz, guest locomotives from other rail operators are expected, including vehicles from TRI. These operational guest locomotives complement the museum’s preserved fleet.
Since many of the guest locomotives are in active service, their participation depends on their respective operational availability. Locomotives that have been confirmed will be announced on an ongoing basis at www.einheitsloktage.de.
Gauge 1 Days at the DB Museum Koblenz
For the eleventh time, the IG Spur 1 Mittelrhein is presenting its 1:32-scale modular layout. The Gauge 1 Days have thus established themselves as a fixture in the model railroading scene.
On an area measuring approximately 45 × 6 meters, nearly 120 modules form about 290 meters of track. The predominantly single-track branch line passes through three stations. Additional guest modules expand the layout and provide further operational possibilities.
The event features varied and prototype-accurate train and shunting operations with typical train formations from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. In addition to various freight trains, passenger and express trains operate with numerous different locomotives and cars.
Train crossings, shunting maneuvers, and the handling of freight and passenger traffic convey a vivid impression of railroad operations from past decades.
Accompanying Program
The cabs of selected locomotives are open for viewing and are staffed by knowledgeable club members. At the booth of the Baureihe E10 e. V. association, visitors can find information about the locomotives on display, the association’s work, and the DB Museum Koblenz. The companies and associations behind the guest locomotives will also present their work.
In the LOCSIM, a Class 110 driving simulator, visitors can virtually experience a ride on an electric locomotive. In addition, cab rides on an E10 or E40 Series locomotive are planned.
Refreshments will be provided by the museum bistro, which is housed in an authentic InterCity dining car.
There will be a raffle with numerous prizes to be won. The proceeds will support the association’s work and the preservation of its locomotives.
70 Years of the E41 001
A special highlight is the anniversary of the E41 001: This vintage locomotive, known as the “Knallfrosch,” is turning 70. To mark the occasion, a “special mystery train” hauled by the E41 001 will run on both days of the event.
