DB Museum Halle (Saale) reopens to visitors in April

The DB Museum Halle (Saale) will reopen to visitors on April 18, 2026. As in previous years, the museum will be open on Saturdays from April to December.

Reopening after constructive discussions

Following last year's decision to convert the site into a depot, constructive discussions were held with the city of Halle (Saale). The aim was to develop prospects for the long-term preservation of the museum site.

The Deutsche Bahn Foundation, which operates the DB Museum, has now decided to resume museum operations. The reopening will create the necessary scope for action to jointly develop viable concepts that will secure the future of the Halle location in the long term.

Railway history in the historic roundhous

The DB Museum Halle (Saale) has been a branch of the DB Museum since 2003. It is located in the historic Ringlokschuppen IV roundhouse and is one of the most important sites in East German railway history.

Around 15 original locomotives from the era of the German Reichsbahn are presented here in an authentic atmosphere. The exhibition offers railway enthusiasts, technology enthusiasts, and families an impressive insight into the development of rail transport in the former GDR.

Opening hours and first opening day

Regular museum operations will begin on April 18, 2026, every Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm.
