World Toilet Day was first proclaimed on 19 November 2001 by the World Toilet Organization. The day is intended to draw attention to the lack of sufficient hygienic sanitary facilities for more than 40 percent of the world's population. For a long time, toilets were also a luxury item on the railroads. The current special exhibition "Under Pressure" tells the story of the train toilet. In the special tour for World Toilet Day, you can immerse yourself in a time when you still had to change into luggage vans to go to the toilet, toilets were far from barrier-free and faeces were still flushed directly onto the tracks.
