MemoRails: A Project Presentation

During the Nazi era, train stations were sites of deportation, forced labor, and persecution. How can this history be commemorated on-site today? The project presentation “MemoRails Visits the DB Museum” showcases the work of 13 organizations from across Germany that have examined the Nazi history of their train stations.

The public opening will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Representatives from two of the funded projects will present their work in short talks and provide insights into local remembrance efforts.

Attend for free and register

To attend the opening, prior registration via the online form of the Foundation for Remembrance, Responsibility, and the Future (EVZ) is required.

Bringing Local History to Light

The presentation focuses on five projects from Meppen, Böhlen, Neumünster, Cottbus, and Weiden, which are presented in detail on large-format steles. They tell the stories of persecuted people, forced labor, deportations, and resistance. Films, audio recordings, and QR codes allow visitors to explore the stories in greater depth.

The federal program “MemoRails – Stop! This is a place of remembrance for Nazi history” was funded in 2025 and 2026 by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and the EVZ Foundation. In collaboration with local organizations, 13 new memorials were created at train stations.

The project exhibition will be on view from November 13, 2026, through February 28, 2027 at the DB Museum in Nuremberg.
