What will the power grids of the future look like? How can global passenger and freight transportation become climate-neutral? And how can energy efficiency in industry be increased? The special exhibition Power2Change sheds light on the path to a climate-neutral future and presents solutions for a secure and affordable energy supply.
Visitors learn about challenges, solutions and research projects and join researchers on the “Mission Energy Transition”. Visitors also learn what the energy transition has to do with their everyday lives.
Interactive media stations and exhibits from the research laboratory provide solutions to various challenges of the energy transition. Four central topic areas show how a supply of energy and raw materials can work without fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal.
In the “Networking” theme island, everything revolves around the “electricity highways of the future” and the question of how renewable energies can get to where they are needed. The “Distribution” theme island shows that different types of paper could be produced in future depending on the energy supply. It explains how industry can also react flexibly to energy supply and demand. Will we soon be able to knit socks from C02 or extract raw materials for medicines? Visitors can find out more about these questions in the “Recycling” theme island. This shows that industrial waste gases can also be put to good use and reused as raw materials. The “Transform” theme island deals with the production of climate-neutral fuels such as e-fuels and their potential for transportation.
Two additional stations complement the themed islands. The “Green electricity” area addresses the question of how we can replace energy from fossil sources. And the hydrogen area highlights the opportunities that hydrogen offers in the energy transition.
The special exhibition can be seen at the DB Museum in Nuremberg until November 16. It will then be on show at two other locations in Germany.
The exhibition is part of the joint project Science Communication Energy Transition. It was jointly developed by participants from the fields of research, museums and science communication. The exhibition is accompanied by an interactive supporting program. The joint project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In the Science Year 2025 - Future Energy, the project is linked to the activities of the Science Year.
