Marry where kings waited

The Königssalon (King's Hall) originates from the old Nuremberg Central Station and is still a valuable testimony to German architectural history: the richly decorated panelling on the walls and ceilings has been preserved to this day and makes the hall an atmospheric location for marriage ceremonies.

In 1860, the Bavarian King Max II ordered that an "appropriate waiting location for the Most High" be set up in the central building of the Nuremberg railway station. The architect Friedrich Bürklein, known as the builder of the Maximilianeum in Munich, the town hall in Fürth and numerous railway station buildings in Bavaria, then created a hall in the neo-Gothic style that was to be reserved for emperors, kings and nobles.

When the old station had to make way for the new building opened in 1906, the magnificent waiting room was preserved. It was given a permanent place in the new building of the Transport Museum, which was opened in 1925.

Tie the knot with up to 35 guests

Anyone wishing to get married can register for a wedding at the DB Museum via the Nuremberg City Registry Office. Reservations can be made online at www.standesamt.nuernberg.de via the Nuremberg registry office's wedding calendar. The marriage ceremony at the DB Museum costs 420 EUR extra and takes place every half hour from 10 am to 1:30 pm.
