The outdoor area of the DB Museum opens this year with many new attractions. Ideas were already being spun and plans made during the pandemic-related closing times. The result is a covered picnic area, an outdoor bobby train track and a family exhibition on railroad agriculture - the "Bahnwärter-Gärtlein". In addition, the playground has been completely renovated and the exhibition has been supplemented with vehicles on the subject of freight traffic.

To mark the opening of the new family exhibition, we are holding a big family festival at the DB Museum Nuremberg on June 11, 2023 with numerous attractions for young and old! From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the top of every hour, railroad guard Thiel will personally guide visitors through his little garden. Musical entertainment will be provided by Tim Mohr, insect hotels can be built from flower pots in the creative workshop, and little museum guests can transform themselves into butterflies and bees during the children's face painting. A soap bubble artist will let his creations float over the open-air grounds from 12 to 2 p.m. and anyone who has always wanted to know how to ride a hand lever trolley can try out the museum trolley at the family festival. The museum restaurant TINTO will provide food and drink, and at the stand of the museum's cooperation partner Acker e. V. there will be various vegetables to get to know and funny children's tattoos by Rudi Radieschen.

A special highlight of the family festival is the visit of the Fränkische Museums-Eisenbahn e. V. with the steam locomotive 52 8195 from the 1940s. The club members explain exciting details about the vehicle and offer the unique opportunity to ride in the driver's cab of their steam locomotive.
